Saint Mary of Egypt Orthodox Mission and Refuge of Kenya Update

Parish support for this mission has had a significant effect on many.  In the first stages, our parish raised funds to install a well and water tanks, and fence in the property.

As of today, the Kenya mission has baptized dozens into the faith and made significant developmental progress.  Recently, His Eminence Konstantin, Patriarchal Exarch of Africa and Metropolitan of Cairo and North Africa toured the rectory being built, and donated motorcycles to the clergy of the Deanery.

His tour also included a look at our crops and livestock initiatives, and our intention to eventually establish a hospital or clinic to serve the local village.

Along with the mission, parish support has helped maintain our school in Nairobi.  With some 160 students, 10 teachers, a cook, and a nightwatchman, the school continues to provide 2 healthy meals a day with an excellent education in the Ngando neighborhood in southern Nairobi.

Father Antipas is deeply grateful for the support our parish has provided.  It is our hope that sometime in the near future, he can fly to the United States so that he can personally express his thanks for the generous support of Saint Mary of Egypt, Roswell.

Please pray for our sister parish and mission in Kenya, and consider becoming a regular supporter as they move towards establishing a self-sustaining mission and parish.  The mission has already created jobs, and with the well, providing a clean water source for the village of Gem.  Your support will build the foundation for the spiritual center of the Kakamega Deanery, provide local jobs, improve health, and most importantly, open the Doors of the Holy Orthodox Faith for the many who are coming.
